In the Renaissance district, symbol of the innovative urban planning that earned Ferrara UNESCO recognition as the first modern city in Europe, a stop in front of the Palazzo dei Diamanti, famous for its façades clad with over 8,500 diamond-shaped marble blocks, is a must.
Walking along the monumental Corso Ercole I d'Este, we reach the heart of the city, dominated by the majestic Castello Estense, a unique fortress still surrounded by its moat filled with water.
The guide's tale will unfold between the central squares, with not-to-be-missed stops such as the Cathedral of San Giorgio, the Ducal Palace and the most fascinating corners of the historic centre, following the traces of the Este family's history.
