A journey into beauty that spans the centuries. The capital of the Renaissance reveals its noble soul in an irresistible weave of history, secrets and identity flavours

Arriving in Ferrara, the discovery of the city begins with an overview of the ancient walls, which surround the city in a harmonious green embrace: an extraordinary example of fortification and military defence, still well preserved and perfectly integrated into the urban fabric.
In the Renaissance district, symbol of the innovative urban planning that earned Ferrara UNESCO recognition as the first modern city in Europe, a stop in front of the Palazzo dei Diamanti, famous for its façades clad with over 8,500 diamond-shaped marble blocks, is a must.
Walking along the monumental Corso Ercole I d'Este, we reach the heart of the city, dominated by the majestic Castello Estense, a unique fortress still surrounded by its moat filled with water. The guide's tale will unfold between the central squares, with not-to-be-missed stops such as the Cathedral of San Giorgio, the Ducal Palace and the most fascinating corners of the historic centre, following the traces of the Este family's history. A lunch break is planned to enjoy local specialities, such as the delicate cappellacci di zucca and the delicious torta tenerina.
In the afternoon, the tour continues through the picturesque medieval streets of the ancient Jewish ghetto, until reaching Palazzo Schifanoia. Here the inside visit will allow you to get to know one of the most important museums in the city, guardian of the magnificent cycle of Renaissance frescoes in the famous "Salone dei Mesi", an authentic masterpiece of Italian art.
