Horse riding in Romagna

Horse trails between the Apennines and the Adriatic Sea

Sitting in the saddle is a one-of-a-kind experience.
Whether it’s your first time or you’re a seasoned equestrian, you’ll love the sensation harmony and freedom that is unique to this sport.

When the joy of riding is mixed with gorgeous scenery, there’s nothing better.
Romagna offers a wide range of possibilities for every age and skill level. The region’s longest trail is the Grande Ippovia dell’Appennino Emilia Romagna [The Great Equestrian Trail in the Emilia-Romagna Apennines] that extends for more than 1,000 kilometres inside the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines National Park.

The Equestrian Trail goes from the province of Piacenza to Rimini passing through unspoiled countryside along ancient routes followed by pilgrims and travellers for centuries. Along the way, riders pass through the Casentinesi Forest National Park in the Forlì-Cesena area and ride down through the Marecchia Valley to Rimini.

You can explore the Po Delta Park on horseback too, thanks to the trail rides organised year round through the age-old pine groves and valleys of this enchanting UNESCO heritage land. The routes are easy and suitable for beginners, who can take their first ever ride on a white Camargue Delta horse, known for their sweet disposition.

Another unforgettable opportunity to discover and enjoy this beautiful sport is to ride on the beaches of the Romagnola Riviera.
Autumn is the perfect season for riding, especially for kids. Check out the Riding in the Autumn Sea event in Marina Romea at the Ravenna seaside, and the Riding along the sea in Cervia, also in the province of Ravenna.
