A charming seaside resort on the Adriatic Coast between Ravenna and Rimini, only 7 km away from the historical centre of Cesenatico, easily reached by local bus.
San Mauro Mare is a clean and tidy and also lively seaside resort that offers a wide range of attractions to both adults and kids. The historic Rubicone river separates the village from Gatteo a Mare.
The town is very quiet thanks to the pedestrian areas that make San Mauro Mare an ideal family holiday place. Awarded from 2008 to 2014 and in 2022 with the Blue Flag, it was one of the first municipalities along the Adriatic coast to possess the EMAS Certification, the most important European recognition in the field of environmental quality.
The best time to visit San Mauro Mare is in the summer. From June to September your motto will be “fun and relax”: the pedestrian area is excellent for shopping and there's the beach, where children can play and swim peacefully. This little part of coast has a lot of tourists both Italians and foreigners, thanks to qualified beaches and structures suitable for differents needs: hotels, residences, flats, camping and also a “Fido Beach”, a beach where you can go with your four-legged friends and the Fido Amare where it is also possible to bathe dogs.
A holiday in San Mauro Mare is also fun thanks to the multiplicity of events, like theater, entertainment for children, dancing nights, and the San Mauro Mare Village, a qualified entertainment staff.
And where if not at the sea can you can find the resort just inside the waves? The first weekend in July, you can discover the Shell Fair and the famous Pink Night.
Only 7 km away, easily reached by car, is the main town, San Mauro Pascoli. Located in the center of a plain, San Mauro Pascoli lies between two rivers – Uso and the historical Rubicon – the Ancient Via Emilia and the sea. The documented origins of the village date back to 1191, when it was mentioned for the first time as " Fundum Sancti Mauri”". In 1932 the name San Mauro of Romagna was modified, by a Regal Decree, to "San Mauro Pascoli" in honor of the great poet.
The historical centre, the town’s heart, has maintained the eighteenth-century town hall, the ex-church of San Sebastiano and the little museum of Pascoli’s home. Only 2 km away there is the “Tower”, a place of the poet's chlildhood.
You cannot leave without having participated in free excursions of “Pascoli itineraries” to discover the treasures of art and to taste the typical products guaranteed by the quality of Romagna.
You will rediscover the most typical and genuine products of the Rubicon valley: the vegetables of "Orto del Pascoli", the extra-virgin olive oil, the wines - Sangiovese and Albana d.o.c. and i.g.t. - the cheeses - “Fossa”cheese, “squacquerone” and “raviggiolo” - “saba” (typical sauce), “savour” (quince apple jam) and the coriander honey. Not to mention the delicious blue fish from the Adriatic, home-made pasta, tasty grilled meat, generous wine and the famous piadina.
San Mauro’s cuisine is based on delicious fresh fish, which you can eat in the typical local restaurants, as well as the classic ‘piadina romagnola’ (typical bread from this region), home-made pasta and the vegetables of the “Orto of Pascoli”. You cannot go back home without tasting a blue Adriatic anchovy dish such as saraghina, alicette or the local wines such as Sangiovese, Trebbiano, Albana and Pagadebit.
In San Mauro Mare there are many opportunities to practice outdoor sports such as basketball, cycling or beach volleyball, or fishing on motorboats. For those who love to relax, a peaceful walk to discover the local crafts is highly recommended. All summer long many events take place in new Arena "Arcobaleno" to liven up your evenings.
Soccer and tennis fields, beach volleyball, beach tennis, swimming and sailing schools, water aerobics and muscle toning. Fantastic go-karts and quads at Kartodromo.
The first weekend in July, the Shell’s Fair with its local street market, in August the “Sunrise Concert” in the magic atmosphere of the sunrise directly on the beach. In July and August the “Poetry’s Garden”, theater and music review inside Pascoli's places: and of course the ”Pink Night”.
A visit is recommended to the old cities of Cesena (16 km), in particular the ancient Biblioteca Malatestiana (Malatestian Library) and of Rimini (10 km) famous for its beach and fun entertainment, but also for its prized monuments, San Marino (40 km), and the city of Ravenna (35 km), a UNESCO heritage site.
In Cesenatico (only 7 km) you can admire the canal-harbour designed by Leonardo Da Vinci and in San Mauro Pascoli (7 km) you can visit the birthplace of the poet Giovanni Pascoli. In the hills there are so many beautiful villages, such as Longiano (20 km) and Sogliano (26 km) and also very ancient parish churches.
