Sunday 2 August is a day dedicated to THRESHING WHEAT, just as it used to be!
On the shores of Lake Acquapartita, the aim is to give tourists, Sunday day-trippers and those on a day out the chance to take part – at least visually – in all the operations that used to take place in the farmyards during the wheat threshing season.
This initiative also aims to keep rural traditions alive and to convey to young people the significance of threshing and of wheat, which is essential for our diet.
PROGRAMME
- From 9.00 am: Cycling and e-bike tour with the Custodi della Natura
- 10.30 am: Walking tour along the Anelli di Aria
- From 3.00 pm: Marafona tournament
- 4.00 pm: Re-enactment of threshing as practised in the 1930s, including the construction of a haystack, and a demonstration of traditional techniques and equipment. Followed by readings and stories from days gone by.
- From 6.00 pm: Farmhouse aperitif with the threshers: in a ‘country’ atmosphere, sitting on bales of straw, to relive the days of yore… and much more!
