"Mare di Libri," (Sea of Books) the only festival in Italy entirely dedicated to young adult literature, returns to Rimini this year, too. An annual event for all young people who love books and reading and want to share their passions with their peers.
The festival is an opportunity to meet and engage with Italian writers and international guests through various types of events: presentations of freshly published books, monographs related to the figures of the most influential authors, debates offering the chance to discuss and exchange opinions with other young people and experts, film screenings, readings, workshops, special events, and performances.
The scheduled events take place within the setting offered by the most important venues in the historic center of Rimini, which has always been the backdrop for this unmissable event for young readers from all over Italy.
Among all the events, the most classic format is the meeting with the authors. Within the program, there will be the awarding of the Premio Mare di Libri for the best young adult novel of the previous year, a recognition attributed by a jury of 10 very strong young readers.
This year, the first 3 international guests announced are: Anthony Mcgowan, winner of the Carnegie Medal in 2020 with Lark (Italian edition published by Rizzoli); Deborah Ellis, bestselling author of Sotto il burqa (Italian edition published by Rizzoli), winner of the Governor General’s Award; Hope Larson, American cartoonist and illustrator, winner of the Eisner Award with her adaptation of A Wrinkle in Time.
