The theme parks of Romagna are the heart of the fun for families with children on holiday on the Adriatic Riviera. Did you know that Mirabilandia, Oltremare, Fiabilandia, Italia in Miniatura and the Aquarium of Cattolica are Pet Friendly and you can enter with your dog?
If you come to Romagna with your four-legged friend and family, you really shouldn’t miss a visit to one of these amusement parks that make, and have made, the history of the holidays of many children and parents in the land of Romagna. Of course, each park has its own rules and characteristics and there are natural limitations for dogs that are managed differently from park to park: here is some information dedicated to Pet Lovers regarding the most renowned theme parks in Romagna and the minor amusement parks of the Adriatic Riviera.

At Mirabilandia, four-legged friends of all sizes are welcome and can enter the park for free accompanied on a leash by their owners and equipped with a muzzle (it is not necessary to wear it, but they must have it with them only as a precaution). The amusement park is one of the most renowned and beloved in Italy with international attractions to make your head spin. Mirabilandia is the largest theme park in Italy, it covers an area of 850,000 m² divided between attractions and entertainment of all kinds dedicated to all ages. It is ideal for a day of leisure for the whole family and for our four-legged travel companions. There are many green spaces where you can stop with your furry friends, dogs can freely access all areas of the outdoor park with the exception of “Mirabeach” and the indoor show areas. Four-legged friends are not allowed to ride the attractions and cannot enter the restaurants, but many food outlets have shaded outdoor spaces where people can enjoy a refreshing pause in the company of their dog. The Park is open from Easter to Halloween in the central months of summer from morning to evening; to visit the park at a more leisurely pace, weekdays are recommended, for four-legged friends who suffer so much from the heat, evening access to the park is ideal! The Butterfly House mainly deals with insects and in particular butterflies. Dogs on a leash can only access the butterfly garden and the shop. It is not possible to bring pets into the tropical butterfly greenhouse and the insect house, in order to protect the species of animals and plants housed in the structures. A visit as a couple to the thematic zoological garden of Milano Marittima is recommended: one person can explore the butterfly garden in the company of the pet, while the other visits the pavilions.
You can enter the Ravenna Safari Park with your dog, but being a zoo with lions, tigers, hippos, giraffes, zebras, bison, camels, ostriches, llamas, antelopes and many other species, you can do it by following a series of precautions and limitations. Small dogs can stay in the car, but it is necessary to prevent them from being visible to the animals. Medium and large dogs must be held, limited to the duration of the safari, in special boxes, positioned at the entrance to the park. In the pedestrian area, all dogs can circulate with the obligation to remain on a leash at all times (a muzzle is required for biting dogs). Dogs are not allowed to enter the island of lemurs.
The Salt Pans of Cervia are known for the production of salt and for being a naturalistic oasis where you can do birdwatching and admire expanses of flamingos. In the park, dogs of all sizes can enter the visitor centre while they cannot enter the oasis and therefore participate with the owner in organized tours (except guide dogs for the visually impaired).
Oltremare is located on the hills of Riccione near the motorway exit. In this nature park adjacent to Aquafan, four-legged friends are welcome and can access it with a leash and muzzle. Given the presence of other animals within the theme park, there are limitations. Dogs of all sizes can enter Oltremare but dogs cannot enter Planet Earth (for a matter of protection of the animals housed there) and in the Oltremare Theater, and must remain at a safe distance during the show of the Dolphins and the Flight of Birds of Prey. Large dogs are not allowed to enter the boats on the Island of Ulysses. All visitors with pets will be entitled to the SKIP THE LINE service: once the normal queue has been completed, one person can wait at the entrance of the attraction with the animal while other people can use the attraction. At the end of the same, people will be able to take turns without having to queue again.
In the Beach Village water park, dogs are accepted if small/medium size; among the services offered are swimming pools and slides suitable for all age groups. Dogs are not allowed to stay in the common free areas, upon arrival, the owners must necessarily book a sun umbrella with two sunbeds to accommodate the furry ones in tow. Inside the park they must always be kept on a leash both for the walk to the sun umbrella and under the umbrella.
The Riccione Avventura park is located within the Cicchetti municipal park (just 5 minutes from the Riccione motorway exit and 400 metres from the railway station); in this amusement park in Romagna all four-legged friends are welcome, obviously on a leash. Riccione Avventura is a unique theme park with 19 fantastic adventure trails, 2 tree village trails to play on and explore with spectacular tree houses connected by network bridges and wooden walkways, and a large inclusive playground area.
At the Aquarium of Cattolica, given the presence of other animals inside, there are some limitations. Only small dogs and animals are allowed in the park and only if they are held in the owners’ arms, in the carrier or in the special pouch. Exceptions are guide dogs for blind people. The exhibition spaces and paths are located indoors inside historic buildings dating back to the 30s.
Fiabilandia is one of the historical parks of the Adriatic Riviera, many generations of children in the last 50 years have ridden on the attractions dedicated to Merlin the Wizard and Peter Pan. The amusement park is Pet Friendly and allows access to four-legged friends on a leash; Fiabilandia offers large green spaces with water fountains that allow your furry friends a refreshing drink during the hot summer days and where the whole family can enjoy a relaxing moment. For small animals, it is also possible to get on the “Fiabilandia Express” train and on the “Fiaby Boat” paddle boat that goes around the lake located in the centre of the park. There are large outdoor spaces inside the park, equipped with benches and shade to relax and take a break with your dog.
Dogs are welcome as long as you always have them on a leash. Medium and large dogs must also be equipped with a muzzle. A park for model enthusiasts and just about everyone, with over 270 perfect reproductions immersed in the greenery of 5,000 real miniature trees, over 100 squares in Italy crossed by 18 electric trains; of course, for safety reasons, our furry friends are not allowed to ride the attractions. In the information on the site, the management recommends that owners pay particular attention to the collection and cleaning of animal excrement.
The Rimini Avventura park is located in the Marecchia Park in Rimini, in the former Fabbri Nursery area, just 300 metres from the Tiberius Bridge and adjacent to the canal port. In this park, 4-legged friends are welcome if kept on a leash and carefully guarded by their owners. 13 adventure trails with barrel tunnels, irregular rungs, Tibetan bridges, lianas, ladders, net bridges, climbing walls, to have fun just a stone’s throw from the centre of Rimini.
The adventure park is perfect for spending a day in the greenery of Romagna with animals in tow. There are many families who bring their four-legged friends to Around Adventures to spend the day in a different way. Among the services offered are 16 suspended paths in a redwood forest, 1 climbing tower with 8 routes, the legendary giant swing, 2 swimming pools surrounded by greenery (dogs are not allowed poolside). The park’s plans include creating an area dedicated to our four-legged friends with sun umbrellas and a swimming pool for dogs in the coming years.
In the countryside of Cesenatico there is a special place to take the dog and spend an evening with the family. In this park, dogs of all sizes are welcome, as long as they are on a leash. A special place where the theatre for the shows is made with bales of hay and where you can find a labyrinth made with corn plants. Six hectares of adventure a few steps from the sea where the piadina of Romagna and local products are right at home.
In the small Republic of San Marino, bordering the Romagna territory, we find San Marino Adventures. The park is Pet Friendly and dogs of all sizes are welcome inside. San Marino Adventures borders a beautiful forest where you can take a wonderful walk with your dog. The entire area of the adventure park is 100% usable by pets without limitations; the use of a leash is necessary, and a muzzle is recommended for aggressive dogs. The park offers 30 routes with slopes from 0 to 35 metres, Soft Air, archery, jump tree adventure and a large accommodation area where you can spend a day in the green.
Four-legged friends are not allowed entry into Aquafan; the park, for technical reasons and due to its conformation with many swimming pools and bodies of water, is not suitable for access and management of four-legged friends.
Pets are not allowed at Atlantica.
