From San Benedetto in Alpe, near Colle Tramazzo, the Tramazzo river is born, a river that flows along a green and lush territory, to be discovered with patience and love for adventure.
In this solitary valley on the border between Romagna and Tuscany, stands the village of Tredozio, part of the National Park of the Casentinesi Forests, Monte Falterona and Campigna. A pleasant summer resort with ancient craft activities, which preserves intact some architecture of the 1600/1700s, including Palazzo Fantini – the most prestigious palace in the village, with its splendid Italian garden – the Convent of SS. Annunziata, the Church of San Michele Arcangelo and various works of artistic interest.
About 9 km from Tredozio, the curious visitor will find the smallest volcano in Italy, the Volcano of Monte Busca: actually a burning fountain due to gaseous hydrocarbons which, in contact with oxygen, remain perpetually lit, giving it a unique appearance.
Continuing to descend towards the valley, we come to the ancient Modigliana: a village full of historic buildings such as the Rocca Fortress of the Guidi Counts, known as the Roccaccia, with a medieval square that is perhaps the most beautiful in the province of Forlì - Cesena. But even here there is no shortage of natural beauty: starting from the city centre, hiking lovers will be happy to get lost along the Agrourban Trails, a total network of 180 km that can be travelled on foot, by bike or on horseback.
